How It Works
-
Inoculate
Inject the included Golden Enoki liquid culture into the pre-sterilised grow bag through the self-healing injection port.
-
Incubate
Keep the inoculated bag somewhere clean and warm while the Golden Enoki mycelium spreads through the grain and substrate.
-
Fruiting
Once fully colonised, follow the included instructions to prepare the fruiting area. Move the block into cool, humid conditions with indirect light, light misting and fresh air while your Golden Enoki mushrooms develop.
Get Multiple Harvests From One Block
After your first harvest, rest and rehydrate the block as directed before returning it to fruiting conditions. With a little care, your block can produce additional flushes, giving you more fresh Golden Enoki mushrooms from one grow kit.
Typically 500–800g of fresh Golden Enoki mushrooms from one kit over multiple flushes, with up to 1kg+ possible in ideal conditions.

Beautiful Golden Clusters

-
Brilliant For Asian-Inspired Cooking

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this kit suitable for complete beginners?
Yes. The inoculation process is straightforward and everything you need to begin is included. Golden Enoki does need a reliably cool place for fruiting, so it is best suited to growers with access to a cool room, porch, garage or utility area.
What exactly is included?
Each kit includes a pre-sterilised all-in-one grow bag, a 10ml Golden Enoki liquid culture syringe, sterile needle, alcohol swab and clear step-by-step instructions.
Do I need any extra equipment?
You only need a clean area to inoculate the bag, a suitable place for colonisation and a spray bottle for the fruiting stage. Everything else is included.
How long until I can harvest Golden Enoki mushrooms?
Golden Enoki needs time to colonise before entering its cooler fruiting stage. Timing varies with temperature and growing conditions, but it generally takes longer than the fastest oyster varieties.
What temperature does Golden Enoki need?
During colonisation, keep your bag somewhere clean and comfortably warm, ideally around 20–24°C.
Once the bag is fully colonised, Golden Enoki needs a much cooler period to trigger pinning. Aim for around 7–10°C initially, then around 10–16°C while the mushrooms develop.
Can I grow this in my kitchen, bedroom or flat?
You can, provided you have a cool enough area for fruiting. Golden Enoki is not ideal for a consistently warm kitchen or bedroom, especially during warmer months.
What do I need to do after the bag arrives?
Keep the bag sealed until you are ready to inoculate. Wipe the injection port with the alcohol swab, inject the included liquid culture, then place the bag somewhere clean and warm while the mycelium grows through the substrate.
How will I know when it is ready to fruit?
The bag is ready once the substrate has turned mostly white with healthy Golden Enoki mycelium. At that point, follow the included instructions to prepare the fruiting area and move the bag into cooler conditions.
Why are my Golden Enoki mushrooms short or developing larger caps?
This normally means the fruiting area is too warm or conditions are changing too quickly. Golden Enoki performs best with stable cool temperatures, high humidity and gentle fresh air exchange.
Can I get more than one harvest?
Yes. The first flush is often the largest, but the block can produce additional smaller flushes after resting and rehydrating.
Should I cook Golden Enoki before eating?
Yes. Thoroughly cook Golden Enoki before eating and follow normal kitchen hygiene practices, including cleaning hands, surfaces and utensils after handling raw mushrooms.
What do Golden Enoki mushrooms taste like?
Golden Enoki has a mild savoury flavour with a delicate sweet, slightly fruity character. Its crisp texture makes it especially good in ramen, hot pots, soups, stir-fries, noodles and rice bowls.
Why does this kit use a liquid culture syringe?
Liquid culture gives you a simple way to start growing without needing to prepare grain spawn yourself. The syringe injects directly through the bag’s self-healing injection port, helping keep the process clean and straightforward.
