This bundle is designed to make the process straightforward while keeping contamination risk low by using pre-sterilised components.

What’s Included

• 1 × Pre-Sterilised Rye Grain Jar

• 1 × Pre-Sterilised Master’s Mix Bag

• 1 × 10ml Liquid Culture Syringe (culture selected from dropdown)

• 1 × Sterile Needle (individually packaged)

• 1 × Alcohol Swab

How to Use

Step 1) Inoculate the Rye Grain Jar

1. Wash hands and work in the cleanest area possible.

2. Wipe the rye Jar injection port with the included alcohol swab and allow to dry.

3. Attach the included sterile needle to the syringe.

4. Inject liquid culture into the rye jar via the injection port.
   

Step 2) Incubate the Rye (Spawn Run)

• Place jar in a clean space out of direct sunlight.

• General incubation range: 20–25°C (most gourmet and many functional mushroom species perform well in this window).

• Let mycelium spread until the grain is fully covered.

At around 30–60% colonised, you may gently shake and mix the grain once to speed up even coverage.

Move to next step when: rye is 100% colonised (firm, white, even coverage).

Step 3) Transfer Colonised Rye to Master’s Mix

• Cut the top of masters mix grow bag and add/mix colonised grain from jar directly into the pre-sterilised Master’s Mix bag using clean technique. (Contamination is less of a risk at this stage as the mycelium is well established)
• Distribute spawn as evenly as possible through the substrate.
• Seal and return to incubation.

Step 4) Incubate Master’s Mix (Bulk Colonisation)

• Keep in clean conditions, out of direct sunlight.

• General incubation range: 20–24°C.

• Allow full colonisation of the Master’s Mix block.

Move to fruiting when: block is fully colonised, bright white, and consolidated.

Typical time range: ~10–28 days depending on species.

Step 5) Start Fruiting

1. Once fully colonised, make a clean 2–5cm slit/X-cut in the bag.

2. Move to fruiting conditions.

General fruiting ranges (species-dependent):

• Temperature: 14–22°C

• Humidity: 85–95% RH

• Fresh Air Exchange: Regular airflow to prevent CO₂ buildup

• Light: Ambient (never direct sunlight)

Pins should form first, followed by mature mushrooms growing from the cut site.

Important Notes

• Needle is pre-sterile and supplied in sterile packaging (no flame sterilisation required).

• This is a multi-species bundle; exact performance depends on the liquid culture selected.

• Keep everything clean at each stage for best results.
