  • Inoculate

Inject the included Enoki liquid culture into the pre-sterilised grow bag through the self-healing injection port.

  • Incubate

Keep the inoculated bag somewhere clean and comfortably warm while the Enoki mycelium spreads through the rye grain and Master’s Mix substrate.

  • Fruiting

Once fully colonised, follow the included Enoki fruiting instructions and move the bag somewhere cool with indirect light, regular misting and a stable humid environment.

Get Multiple Harvests From One Block

After your first harvest, rest and rehydrate the block as directed before returning it to fruiting conditions. With a little care, your block can produce additional flushes, giving you more fresh Enoki mushrooms from one grow kit.

Typically 500–800g of fresh Enoki mushrooms from one kit over multiple flushes, with up to 1kg+ possible in ideal conditions.

Why Grow Enoki Mushrooms?

Enoki mushrooms are a distinctive gourmet variety known for their long slender stems, small rounded caps and crisp, tender texture.

They have a mild, subtly sweet savoury flavour that works brilliantly in ramen, hot pots, stir-fries, soups, noodle bowls and quick pan-fried dishes.

  • Elegant, Delicate Stems

Enoki produces a beautiful cluster of fine pale stems with small caps, making it one of the most distinctive mushrooms you can grow at home.

  • Brilliant For Asian-Inspired Cooking

Enoki is especially good in ramen, miso soup, hot pots, Korean-style dishes, rice bowls, stir-fries and sesame or soy-based recipes.

  • Crisp, Tender Texture

Their delicate texture cooks quickly and adds a fresh, satisfying bite to noodle dishes, soups and stir-fries.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this kit suitable for complete beginners?

Yes, although Enoki is best suited to growers who have access to a reliably cool space for fruiting. The inoculation process is straightforward, but Enoki needs colder conditions than most oyster varieties.

What exactly is included?

Each kit includes a pre-sterilised all-in-one grow bag, a 10ml Enoki liquid culture syringe, sterile needle, alcohol swab and clear step-by-step instructions.

Do I need any extra equipment?

You only need a clean area to inoculate the bag, a suitable place for colonisation and a spray bottle for the fruiting stage. Everything else is included.

How long until I can harvest Enoki mushrooms?

Timing varies with temperature and conditions, but Enoki generally takes longer than fast-growing oyster varieties. Allow around 5–8 weeks from inoculation for colonisation and fruiting.

What temperature does Enoki need?

During colonisation, keep your bag somewhere clean and comfortably warm, ideally around 20–24°C.

Once fully colonised, Enoki needs significantly cooler conditions. Aim for around 7–12°C to encourage pinning, then around 10–16°C while the mushrooms develop.

Can I grow this in my kitchen, bedroom or flat?

You can, but only if you have a cool enough area for fruiting. Enoki is not ideal for a consistently warm kitchen or bedroom, especially during summer. A cool porch, utility room, garage or unheated spare room is usually more suitable.

What do I need to do after the bag arrives?

Keep the bag sealed until you are ready to inoculate. Wipe the injection port with the alcohol swab, inject the included liquid culture, then place the bag somewhere clean and warm while the mycelium grows through the substrate.

How will I know when it is ready to fruit?

The bag is ready once the substrate has become mostly white with healthy Enoki mycelium. At that point, follow the included instructions to prepare the fruiting area and move it into cooler conditions.

Why are my Enoki mushrooms short or wide?

This usually means the fruiting area is too warm, too dry or receiving too much fresh air or light. Enoki develops its classic long, fine stems in a cool, humid and more sheltered fruiting environment.

Can I get more than one harvest?

Yes. The first flush is often the largest, but the block can produce additional smaller flushes after resting and rehydrating.

Should I eat Enoki mushrooms raw?

No. Enoki should be thoroughly cooked before eating, and good kitchen hygiene should be followed when preparing it.

What do Enoki mushrooms taste like?

Enoki has a mild, subtly sweet savoury flavour with a crisp, tender texture. It is excellent in ramen, hot pots, soups, stir-fries, noodle bowls and sesame or soy-based dishes.

Why does this kit use a liquid culture syringe?

Liquid culture gives you a simple way to start growing without needing to prepare grain spawn yourself. The syringe injects directly through the bag’s self-healing injection port, helping keep the process clean and straightforward.
