  • Inoculate

Inject the included Coral Tooth liquid culture into the pre-sterilised grow bag through the self-healing injection port.

  • Incubate

Keep the inoculated bag somewhere clean and comfortably warm while the Coral Tooth mycelium spreads through the grain and substrate.

  • Fruiting

Once colonised, cut the bag as directed and move it into cool-to-mild, humid conditions with indirect light and fresh air. Small white pins will gradually develop into detailed branching clusters with delicate hanging teeth.

Get Multiple Harvests From One Block

After your first fruiting, rehydrate the block and return it to fruiting conditions. With good humidity, fresh air and care, it may produce an additional smaller flush.

Typically 500–800g of fresh Coral Tooth mushrooms from one kit over multiple flushes, with up to 1kg+ possible in ideal conditions.

Why Grow Coral Tooth Mushrooms?

Coral Tooth is one of the most distinctive mushrooms you can grow at home. Instead of producing traditional caps and stems, it develops intricate white branches covered in delicate tooth-like spines.

The fruiting bodies look like underwater coral or small snow-covered trees, making Coral Tooth a brilliant choice for anyone who wants to grow something genuinely unusual.

  • A Truly Unique Mushroom

Coral Tooth develops heavily branched white fruiting bodies with fine hanging teeth, creating an impressive coral-like display.

  • Fascinating To Watch Develop

From tiny white pins to a full branching cluster, Coral Tooth changes quickly during fruiting. It is a great species for growers who enjoy watching every stage of the process.

  • A Gourmet Home Grow

Coral Tooth is an edible gourmet mushroom with a mild flavour and tender texture when harvested young. It is a standout alternative to standard supermarket mushrooms.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this kit suitable for complete beginners?

Yes. The bag arrives pre-sterilised and ready to inoculate, so you do not need a pressure cooker, specialist equipment or previous mushroom-growing experience.

Coral Tooth is straightforward to start, though it needs more patience and humidity than fast-growing oyster mushroom varieties.

What exactly is included?

Each kit includes a pre-sterilised all-in-one grow bag, a 10ml Coral Tooth liquid culture syringe, sterile needle, alcohol swab and clear step-by-step instructions.

Do I need any extra equipment?

You only need a clean area to inoculate the bag, a suitable place for colonisation and a spray bottle for the fruiting stage. Everything else is included.

How long until I can harvest Coral Tooth mushrooms?

Coral Tooth is a slower-growing species. Most growers can expect mature fruiting bodies in around 6–10 weeks from inoculation, depending on temperature and growing conditions.

What temperature does Coral Tooth need?

During colonisation, keep your bag somewhere clean and comfortably warm, ideally around 20–24°C.

Once fully colonised, Coral Tooth fruits best in cooler, humid conditions. Aim for around 16–21°C with indirect light, regular misting and plenty of fresh air.

Can I grow this in my kitchen, bedroom or flat?

Yes, provided you have somewhere suitable for fruiting. A cool bright room away from direct sunlight can work well, as long as you can maintain humidity and provide fresh air.

What do I need to do after the bag arrives?

Keep the bag sealed until you are ready to inoculate. Wipe the injection port with the alcohol swab, inject the included liquid culture, then place the bag somewhere clean and warm while the mycelium grows through the substrate.

How will I know when it is ready to fruit?

The bag is ready once the substrate has turned mostly white with healthy Coral Tooth mycelium. At that point, follow the included instructions to cut the fruiting area, move it into cooler humid conditions and begin misting.

Why is my Coral Tooth not branching well?

Coral Tooth needs high humidity and regular fresh air to develop clean, detailed branches. Stale air can lead to denser, less defined growth, while dry conditions can cause the delicate teeth to yellow or stop developing.

Can I get more than one harvest?

Yes. The first flush is often the largest, but the block can produce additional smaller flushes after resting and rehydrating.

Can Coral Tooth be cooked?

Yes. Thoroughly cook Golden Enoki before eating and follow normal kitchen hygiene practices, including cleaning hands, surfaces and utensils after handling raw mushrooms.

What does Coral Tooth taste like?

Coral Tooth has a mild, delicate flavour with gentle earthy and savoury notes. When harvested young, it has a soft, tender texture and can develop a subtle seafood-like quality when cooked.

It is best sautéed gently in butter or oil, and works well in pasta dishes, risottos, soups and stir-fries.

Why does this kit use a liquid culture syringe?

Liquid culture gives you a simple way to start growing without needing to prepare grain spawn yourself. The syringe injects directly through the bag’s self-healing injection port, helping keep the process clean and straightforward.
