What Are Liquid Cultures?
Mycelium liquid culture is a sterile nutrient broth containing live mushroom mycelium such as Lions Mane, Pink oyster, Turkey Tail etc. It is used as a fast, reliable way to start cultivation. Instead of germinating spores from scratch, growers inoculate grain, agar, or other sterile substrates with liquid culture to get quicker colonisation, more consistent results, and easier strain expansion.
Frequently Bought With
Take your liquid culture from syringe to full colonisation with our pre-sterilised Rye Grain Spawn Bags and pre-sterilised Master Mix Grow Bags.
Use the rye bag to build clean, vigorous grain spawn, then transfer to Master Mix for strong, reliable fruiting performance.

Best Workflow For Mushroom Growing
-
Innoculate
Using sterile technique, inject liquid culture into a sterilised grain bag or jar (rye is commonly used). Keep handling to a minimum to reduce contamination risk.
-
Incubate
Store the inoculated grain in a clean environment at the appropriate temperature for your strain. Allow full colonisation before moving to the next stage.
-
Substrate
Once grain is fully colonised, break it up and mix it evenly through a sterilised Master’s Mix grow bag. Seal and incubate again until the substrate is completely colonised.
-
Fruiting
When fully colonised, introduce fruiting conditions by cutting ventilation slits or opening the bag as directed. Maintain fresh air exchange, humidity, and light misting until pins and mushrooms develop.
